Birthday girl
Peanut's 2nd birthday was last Saturday (12th) - the day that Chase and I were discharged from the hospital. Pop and Gram brought a cake with a Clawdie cat on it (which she picked out and ate as her piece). It wasn't a big to-do, but I will make up for it next year!

Still in the hospital, waiting to be checked out. Chase is ready to be discharged from the NICU, now waiting on Mommy (who hasn't been examined by a doctor in two days).

Ginger is home
In recovery in the sunroom away from her idiot sisters. Large tumor was removed and lots of fluid drained so she has staples and a drainage tube and seems to be in a bit of pain. Sleeping now after eating a bit.

Crib
Finally at age 2 does Peanut decide to sleep in her crib...too bad her baby brother will need it.
We are going to have a tough time with some jealousy...she has started to refer to herself as "baby" and is regressing to reading her baby books and playing with baby toys.

39.5 weeks and counting
Doctors no longer going to induce by my due date (this Thursday) because of shingles. I am still getting new lesions, and this could pass the virus to the baby (through contact). The shingles have caused a new level of pain the past two days. Unreal. I feel like my ribs have been broken and are sore and the stabbing, searing pains in my side and back occurs more frequently. Really hoping I do not experience the long term nerve damage/pain that can sometimes occur from this crappy virus.
Nothing to do but wait. Baby showing little signs of coming on his own anytime soon (but that could always turn on a dime) so we will wait and monitor again on Thurs to make sure no signs of fetal distress and then reevaluate everything next Monday. Definitely didn't expect this outcome.
We are going to pick up Ginger. They finished the surgery a few hours ago but could not make a determination and have to send out a biopsy sample. I was hoping for better news - like it was just an infected cyst or something like that. Cancer sucks. Poor old dog.

Better day today
Today was a bit better - shingles pain was sporadic and mostly tolerable for much of the day, though I needed to lay down for a bit mid day. I seem to get some relief when I lay on my right side (where the infection is - weird, but maybe the pressure helps?). It is starting to flare up a bit now - hopefully will be able to get a little sleep though. I noticed another small new patch tonight - think that makes 8 total so far.
My parents came over for the day - was very nice. Peanut had a blast playing with them, and my Dad cut down the magnolia tree that was growing too close to the foundation and also all the large tree limbs that came down in last weekend's snow storm. A lot of outside work is finished- I know Ian is very grateful for the help (he has never used a chainsaw or taken down a tree). I baked a cake and some scones for Dad's birthday - and Mom did the dishes and helped Peanut take a nap. Was great!
12 more hours to go and then we will definitely be delivering at the new hospital. We better make it! If we are in the hospital on Monday, Mom and Dad will watch Peanut and make sure Ginger gets to the vets for her surgery. I am very thankful for that - Ginger is my furry baby and I am relieved to have her under their watch if I am gone. That dog means the world to me...really! She is and has always been MY dog...if you know what I mean.
